Read AI is an analytics product first and a note taker second. A bot joins the call, or the Chrome extension sits alongside it, and the transcript is only the raw material. What Read sells on top is measurement: sentiment, engagement, talk-time split, speaking pace, filler words, and a combined Read Score you can watch move in real time on a live dashboard during the meeting.

That focus explains the shape of the whole product. It reads facial cues and voice activity from the video feed, so a video call is where it works best. Pricing is per person, because the analytics are about people. And the search layer, Ask Read, is aimed at an organisation with hundreds of recorded calls sitting in one workspace, not at one person with a folder of client notes.

• The free plan caps you at 5 transcripts a month and one hour per meeting. That is a trial, not a working plan.
• Playback starts at Enterprise. On Pro you get the transcript and the analytics, but you cannot open the recording and listen to the exact moment a number was agreed. For $19.75 a month that surprises a lot of people.
• Enterprise+ has a 5 licence minimum, so the compliance features are not reachable as an individual.

Who should stay on Read AI

This part matters more than the switch case. If you are in the group below, nothing on this page should move you.

Read AI is the right tool when the meeting itself is the thing you want to study. Sales managers coaching reps on talk-time ratio, customer teams tracking whether a relationship is warming or cooling across a quarter, enablement leads who need one dashboard across forty sellers: no note-taking app replaces that. Noter AI does not produce engagement scores, sentiment curves or a Read Score, and it is not trying to.

• You want the analytics. Engagement, sentiment, speaking pace and filler-word coaching are the product. Nothing in this comparison replaces them.
• Almost all your meetings are scheduled video calls on Zoom, Meet or Teams, with cameras on. That is where Read's measurement has something to measure.
• You need a live view during the call. Read shows sentiment and engagement moving in real time and flags the moments they swing. Noter AI has no live captions and no live dashboard; it works on the finished recording.
• You depend on Salesforce, HubSpot, Notion, Jira, Slack or Zapier. Read pushes into all of them on the paid tiers. Noter AI has no CRM, Notion, Slack or Zapier integrations; calendar sync (Google and Microsoft) is its only outside connection, and that gap is a genuine reason to stay put.

Why people go looking for a Read AI alternative

The complaints cluster into a few clear patterns, and they are mostly about meetings that are not scheduled video calls.

• The important meetings are not on Zoom. A site visit, a coffee with a supplier, a client in your office, a phone call from the car. Read's mobile app can record in person, but the analytics that justify the price need a video feed. You end up paying analytics money for a plain transcript.
• One language per meeting. Read detects the language people are mostly speaking and writes the transcript and notes in that language. Bilingual meetings come out damaged. More on this below.
• The bill grows with the team. At $19.75 per person per month, a five-person team is $98.75 a month. Nobody's meeting count changed; the headcount did.
• No playback on Pro. Being unable to hear the recording when the transcript is ambiguous is the single most common upgrade trap.
• No Webex notetaker. Read AI's notetaker does not join Webex calls. Read's own help center names Webex as an unsupported platform; there is a Webex App Hub listing, but no bot that joins the meeting and writes the notes. If part of your work runs on Webex, those calls stay uncovered.
• You never wanted a score. Plenty of people just want a clean summary and a to-do list, and are paying for a dashboard they never open.

The language problem, in plain terms

This is the sharpest difference between the two tools, so it is worth being precise.

Read AI supports roughly two dozen languages for meeting reports, and it automatically detects which language is being spoken primarily during the meeting, then uses that one language for the transcript and the notes. For a meeting held entirely in German or entirely in Japanese, that works fine. For a meeting held in two languages at once, it does not.

A Gulf management meeting runs in Arabic with English product names, English metrics and English job titles dropped into every other sentence. A Mumbai standup is Hindi with English technical vocabulary. A Miami sales call slides between Spanish and English depending on who is talking. Pick one language for that recording and one of two things happens: the second language gets written out phonetically in the first language's script, which is unreadable, or it gets dropped and the sentence quietly loses its meaning. Either way the summary built on top inherits the damage, and the action item that mattered is the one that disappears.

Read the table as two different products rather than a winner and a loser. Read AI is wider: more platforms, more integrations, live measurement, an admin layer. Noter AI is deeper on the recording itself and on languages, and it costs a fifth as much for a small team.

What flat pricing actually changes

Noter AI is $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year. That is the whole price list, and it is per person. Five people is five subscriptions, not one shared fee. What it does not do is step up to a higher per-user tier or make you buy a seat for the person who joins two meetings a month.

The gap shows up fastest on small teams. Five people on Read AI Pro is $98.75 a month, or $75 a month if you commit to a year. Five people who each want their own Noter AI subscription is $49.95 a month, or $20.83 a month if they all take the annual plan at $49.99 each per year. Ten people on Read AI Enterprise is $297.50 a month, against $99.90 a month for ten Noter AI subscriptions billed monthly, or about $41.66 a month for ten on the annual plan. Noter AI is a per-person subscription too, so the total still grows with headcount. What does not grow is the rate: no seat minimum, no admin seat, no tier that jumps, and no seat to buy, assign or reclaim when somebody leaves. The trade is that there is no shared workspace and no single invoice.

Per-seat pricing also changes behaviour in a way people underestimate. When a seat costs $19.75, you do not hand one to the contractor who joins for six weeks, or to the office manager who takes minutes twice a month. So those meetings go unrecorded, and the tool covers the part of the company that could justify the licence rather than the part that needed the notes. Depth on the recording, not on the room

Read AI measures the people in the meeting. Noter AI works the recording harder. Both are forms of analysis; they just point at different things.
