Brazilian and European Portuguese are not the same problem

• European Portuguese eats its vowels. Unstressed vowels get reduced almost to nothing, so words run together in a way Brazilian Portuguese doesn't. Models trained mostly on Brazilian speech — which is most of them, because that's where the data is — return noticeably more errors on a Lisbon or Porto meeting.
• Brazilian business Portuguese is full of English. "O call", "a call de alinhamento", "o deploy", "fazer o follow-up", "o board". A tool locked to Portuguese when you pressed record renders those phonetically, and they're usually the load-bearing words.
• African Portuguese is a third case. Angolan and Mozambican Portuguese have their own vocabulary and rhythm, and almost no vendor mentions them at all.
• Accents and cedilla matter. Ação, é, ã, ç. Tools that flatten diacritics produce documents that look wrong to any Portuguese reader, no matter how accurate the words underneath are.

The honest limits. European Portuguese, with its heavy vowel reduction, produces more errors than Brazilian Portuguese does, and the translation list names Portuguese as a single language rather than offering separate Brazilian and European output. There's also no web or desktop app, no CRM integrations, and no permanent free tier — though roughly five minutes of your own audio can be tested free, which is the only test that settles this.

Getting a better Portuguese transcript

• Test with your own audio first. Five minutes with your actual speakers — Brazilian, European, or African Portuguese — tells you more than any vendor's language page.
• Phone flat on the table, middle of the room, nothing over the mic. Audio quality costs Portuguese accuracy faster than it costs English, because there's less margin in the model.
• Don't fight the English words. With an auto-detecting tool there's no need to ask a Brazilian team to stop saying "o call", and asking would fail anyway.
• Say names and numbers clearly early on. That's where your correction minute goes; the rest usually lands.
• Expect more corrections on European Portuguese than Brazilian. That's a property of how the language is spoken and where the training data comes from, not of the app you chose.

Bottom line

For Portuguese the decision is made by three things: whether the app supports the language at all (Otter doesn't), whether it survives the English that fills Brazilian business speech, and whether it can record a meeting that isn't a video call.
