The short answer

What Teams' own transcription does and does not do

Teams live transcription and the transcript saved after a meeting are built around a spoken language setting. The organiser or a participant picks the language, and the recogniser loads that language's model. Teams supports a long list of languages, which is often mistaken for support for multilingual meetings. It is not the same thing.

Changing the language mid-meeting is possible, and it helps when a call moves from one language to another in blocks. It does nothing for a sentence that mixes both, because the recogniser still holds one language at a time.

Live captions can translate, on some Microsoft 365 plans, from the spoken language into a caption language. That is a translation of one language, not recognition of two. And it produces captions, not a summary you can send.

The recap that Teams generates on Copilot-enabled plans is built from the transcript. If the transcript has one language transcribed as gibberish, the recap inherits that, and it looks confident while doing so.
