Best apps for bilingual meeting transcription
The right app depends on where you meet and how your team switches languages. A phone recording around a table, a fixed two-language conversation and a series of online calls need different setups. Here are three documented options and a short test to help you choose without relying on a language-count headline.

Choose the workflow first
These are recommendations by documented workflow, not results from a controlled accuracy benchmark. We make Noter AI. The comparison includes alternatives that may fit your requirements better, and the same sample test should apply to all three.
| Your meeting | Start by evaluating | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| People around a table or on a mobile recording | Noter AI | Your language pair, quieter speakers and the recap you need to share |
| A known pair of languages with a bilingual recording mode | Notta | Both languages are supported in its bilingual mode and your account's current allowance |
| Online team meetings with automatic mixed-language recognition | Fireflies | Business or Enterprise access and Multi-Language Mode enabled before the call |
Noter AI records, transcribes and summarizes your meetings on iPhone, iPad & Android, in 60+ languages.
Noter AI: start here for mobile recording and a shareable recap
Noter AI records on iPhone, iPad and Android, accepts audio imports and detects supported transcription languages automatically. It keeps a transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, then creates a summary and action items. You can replay a transcript line to check what was said.
It is a practical starting point when your bilingual meeting happens in a room and the follow-up needs to reach colleagues in another language. It also has a bot for Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex.
Check your actual recording. Automatic detection does not promise flawless names, overlapping voices or every accent. Review the original words before sharing the recap. If you need a browser workspace or a specific external integration, verify that requirement separately instead of choosing from transcription features alone.
Notta: evaluate its dedicated two-language mode
Notta documents a Bilingual Transcription & Translation mode on web and mobile. You select two languages from its supported set of 23. Its instructions cover live recording, supported online meetings and file uploads.
This is worth evaluating when the language pair is known in advance. Enable the bilingual mode rather than assuming an ordinary single-language recording will produce the same result. Its help page says bilingual translation is not supported for uploaded files in this workflow, and records uploaded via a link cannot use the bilingual mode.
Check the current plan allowance and the exact feature you need before subscribing. Feature availability and included usage are separate questions. Read Notta's bilingual setup instructions.
Fireflies: evaluate Multi-Language Mode for online meetings
Fireflies documents a beta Multi-Language Mode covering 60+ languages on Business and Enterprise plans. It is designed to detect supported languages within the same conversation, including switches mid-sentence.
The setting matters: its documentation distinguishes Multi-Language (Auto-Detect) from the ordinary Auto-Detect option, which transcribes the dominant language. Enable the mixed-language mode before the meeting or when uploading a recording. The summary is generated in the dominant spoken language.
That workflow may suit a team already using Fireflies for online calls. Confirm plan access and how you will provide a recap in another reader's language. Read Fireflies' Multi-Language Mode instructions.
Judge the output with the same two-minute recording
A fair trial uses the same recording, not different demos. Include both languages, a natural switch inside a sentence, a proper name, an amount and a deadline. Use the documented bilingual mode for each app and record the plan or trial tier you tested.
Compare the original transcript first. Then compare speaker labels and the recap. A polished summary can hide missing words, and a large language list does not tell you whether the tool supports switching inside one conversation.
| Check | What a useful result preserves |
|---|---|
| Language switch | The meaning of both halves of the sentence |
| Proper name | A name you can recognize and correct if necessary |
| Amount and deadline | The actual figure, date and qualification the speaker used |
| Speaker labels | The correct person attached to the decision or task |
| Recap | Confirmed decisions, with uncertain owners or dates left uncertain |
| Sharing | An output your reader can open in the language they need |
Your sample review
Check each item after listening to the recording and reviewing the output.
What about HiNoter and other multilingual apps?
A claim of multilingual support is a reason to investigate, not evidence that an app handles your particular mixed-language recording. Check whether its documentation describes one language per recording, a selected pair, or automatic detection within the conversation.
If you are already trying HiNoter, run the same sample and compare the transcript yourself. We have not benchmarked its output here, so this page does not rank its bilingual accuracy. For a broader product comparison, see the HiNoter alternative page.
Make the choice after the trial
- Choose for your real meeting location. A tool that fits online calls may not be the simplest way to record a conversation around a table.
- Check the mixed-language mode and your pair. A general language count is not a substitute for the configuration you will use.
- Review the recap separately. Capturing two languages and writing the follow-up in a third are different capabilities.
- Verify current limits and price at checkout. Evaluate the actual plan you would use, not a feature visible only on another tier.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best app for bilingual meeting transcription?
Evaluate Noter AI for mobile recording and recaps, Notta for a documented selected-pair bilingual mode, and Fireflies for online meetings with Multi-Language Mode on Business or Enterprise. The best fit depends on your language pair and the result of a representative recording test.
Is automatic language detection the same as bilingual transcription?
Not always. Some auto-detect settings identify the dominant language for the recording. Look for documentation that explicitly supports multiple languages in the same conversation, and enable that mode.
Do more supported languages mean better bilingual accuracy?
No. The count does not tell you how the app handles switching, names, accents or your room's audio. Test the languages and recording setup you intend to use.
Were these apps tested against each other?
No controlled accuracy benchmark was performed for this page. The recommendations are based on documented workflows, and the page gives you a sample method for evaluating your own recording.
